First off, Congress should legalize prostitution. The reason why is because throughout my military career, I saw men who just wanted sex, not relationships. To get sex, they had to engage in some sort of relationship with a woman where the end result was that money was exchanged for sexual favors. Some women learned to manipulate men and to get as much money as they could from a man. Sometimes a marriage would develop from these relationships, the woman would be unable to adjust to the military lifestyle of the husband, a divorce would result. You can prevent STD's with education, birth control, and medical check-ups. (Other countries, like Denmark, Germany, and Thailand, allow prostitution and do not look down on it.) In my opinion, a lot of problems would be cleared up by legalizing prostitution. (I think that some spouses can't adjust to the thought that their husband bends to the authority of someone else, not them.) When a service member gets a divorce, the government ends up paying for the alimony, and the money to support any offspring that the service member claims. The woman could even remarry, and the government will still be paying to the spouse and her kids. It was a common query why the U.S. military did not allow service members to possess pornography, and yet it was sold at the on-base shoppettes.
